چکیده
The polyfunctional and highly reactive bio-polymer, the chitosan was first regioselectively converted into dialkylated chitosan using dimsyl anionic solution(NaH in DMSO) and bromodecane after protecting amino groups by phthalic anhydride. The dibenzo-18-crown-6-ether, on the other hand, was converted into its carbonyl derivatives via Duff reaction prior to incorporate into chitosan by Schiff base formation. Thus formed diformylated dibenzo-18-crown-6-ether was condensed with lipophilic chitosan to prepare the novel solvent extraction reagent. The products were characterized mainly by IR and H-NMR. Hence, the multidentate crown ether-embedded polyfunctional bio-material was tested for extraction of Pd(II) and Pt(IV) in aqueous solution. Keywords—Lipophilic chitosan, Duff reaction, crown ether and precious metal ions extraction.

Microwave irradiation-assisted synthesis of a novel crown ether crosslinked chitosan as a chelating agent for heavy metal ions (M(+n)).
Microwave irradiation was used to obtain a di-Schiff base type crosslinked chitosan dibenzocrown ether (CCdBE) via the reaction between the -NH(2) and -CHO groups in chitosan and 4,4'-diformyldibenzo-18-c-6, respectively. The structure of the synthesized compound was characterized by elemental analysis, solid state 13C-NMR and FT-IR spectra analysis. The results showed that the mass fraction of...
متن کاملAdsorption behavior of mercury and precious metals on cross-linked chitosan and the removal of ultratrace amounts of mercury in concentrated hydrochloric acid by a column treatment with cross-linked chitosan.
Cross-linked chitosan was synthesized with chitosan and ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether. The adsorption behavior of trace amounts of metal ions on the cross-linked chitosan was systematically examined by packing it in a mini-column, passing a metal solution through it and measuring metal ions in the effluent by ICP-MS. The cross-linked chitosan adsorbed mercury and precious metals (Pd, Pt, and...
متن کاملImproved Extraction-Separation of Lanthanum/ Europium Ions by Bis(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric Acid Using 12-Crown-4 as an Ion Selective Masking Agent
The extraction-separation of lanthanum and europium ions with bis(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (DEHPA) in cyclohexane was improved by adding 12-crown-4 (12C4) to the aqueous phase as a masking agent. In the presence of this crown ether the extraction curve of lanthanum ions versus pH shifts to the higher pH region, while the curve is not influenced for the europium ions. Consequently the s...
